What is Yamuna Body Rolling

What is Yamuna Body Rolling…

A Ball is Just a Ball without the right education

Yamuna Body Rolling is based on the concept of using small balls to stimulate bone resiliency and release bone, fascial and muscle tension.  It combines healing, wellness, and injury prevention.

YBR uses 6- to 10-inch balls to strengthen, tone, and realign the body and fix all sorts of problems, ranging from sciatica and herniated disks to fibromyalgia and low-back, neck, and shoulder pain.

You will learn a series of routines on the balls.  Each routine will teach you to roll through a specific muscle group from “start to end”.

After an hour of Body Rolling you will feel like you had a workout and a deep massage.

Yamuna Body Rolling helps muscles and fascia become unglued from each other so that bone, muscle and joint can perform more efficiently.   It develops bone density and resilience.  It develops core strength, tones your body.  You will move with greater ease and feel your body supporting you as you do.

In the words of Yamuna herself:

“The commonly accepted belief that as you get older you get stiffer and lose mobility and can no longer do the things we used to do is not part of Yamuna’s belief system. She believes everyone should be able to achieve his personal best at every age.  In a Yamuna® Body Rolling class one learns to work on each part of the body, rolling the appropriate ball (vis-à-vis size and firmness) from the buttocks to the calf; from the tail bone up to the skull; from the abdomen up to the collar bone; from the collar bone out to the shoulder joint; and so on. Everywhere you have muscle connecting from one place to the next; this is the path along which Yamuna® Body Rolling takes you.  Yamuna® Body Rolling gives you the ability to “work on yourself ” anytime, anywhere, forever.”

If you come to Howling Dog Studio for a YBR series the first part of your initial class will include learning how to find the core muscles you will need to rely on in order to roll safely and effectively.  Our 6 session introduction/beginning series takes you through the various rolls as mentioned by Yamuna above until you have learned the basics and can continue both on your own and at future beginning/intermediate classes here at the studio.
