What is Yamuna Foot Fitness

Yamuna Foot Fitness can prevent or alleviate common foot problems such as bunions, plantar fasciitis, mortons neuromas, hammer toes, calcification and arthritis.

Our feet are subject to tremendous stress.  We use them daily, with all our body weight bearing down into them – and they do most of this work while literally bound up all day in shoes.  As a result, the feet can’t function fully.  They become contracted: the bones narrow in toward each other, the muscles atrophy, and the fascia glues all these structures together.  Nowhere else in the body does this happen.  On top of this most people have an imbalanced walking pattern.  Put these two things together and you get pain and common foot problems.

The goal of Yamuna® Foot Fitness (YFF) is to create space in the foot by restoring length and width to the involved muscles and bones.  Creating optimal space restores range of motion in all the joints of the feet. To make foot fitness easy and accessible Yamuna created YFF, the newest development of the Yamuna® Body Rolling system.  YFF uses special props – foot wakers and later smaller foot savers – to restore healthy foot function by creating balance, flexibility, improving circulation, strength and proper gait (walking patterns).

Foot function affects leg and hip function and can even influence shoulder, neck and rib cage stability. The foot is at the end of fascial chains (fibrous sheaths that surround our muscles and organs) descending from the head, through the pelvic floor.   The bone structure of our body is held up vertically by our feet.  Additionally the foot affects the entire body through the reflexology points on its plantar surface.  If you take time to improve your foot health you will revive your entire body.

YFF is a very powerful practice – basic routines can be learned at one of our two hour workshops that you can then practice at home.  Once you find your feet improving you may wish to advance to foot savers and work in further detail with Nancy or another Yamuna Foot Fitness practitioner. A good portion of foot saver work involves practitioner hands on work to aid in stability, break down calcium deposits, help unwind and release inefficient patterns. As a YFF practitioner Nancy is trained in these ‘hands on’ techniques which remove impact from bone, further strengthen and help realign the foot.

Workshops are 2 hours and your own pair of FootWakers.
